Changing the narrative of who can, should and want to be a programmer is in the core of what Pink Programming do. For the project Programming For the Future, the organization has reached teenagers and young adults, aged 15-25, to introduce programming for younger people in Skåne – with a successful outcome.

After almost 2 years at Minc, Pink Programming is now moving its headquarters to Media Evolution City in Malmö. The vibrant community platform for digital industries, Media Evolution, fosters innovation through collaboration and knowledge sharing, making it the perfect spot for Pink Programming taking the organization to the next level.
Pink Programming is Sweden’s largest network for developers that identify as women, transgender and non-binary. Our vision is a gender-equal IT sector where female, transgender, and non-binary developers are as common as male developers. Our main activities are building safe spaces for our target group to enjoy coding, such as Pink Sundays (our coding meetups), Pink AW and Camps as well as delivering courses for companies to become more inclusive employers in the IT industry.

Last Friday was the award ceremony for the prestigious Diversity Index Award, and guess what? We won in the gender category!
Dorka Schattmann was already debating whether to make a career change when she attended her first coding event with Pink. Halfway through her master’s degree in law and with an internship in the European Parliament on her resumé, the event came and changed everything.
Back in 2015, three women working within development had grown tired of the lack of female colleagues. To solve the problem, they started hosting coding events to bring women, non-binary and transgender people together. It did not take long until they were overwhelmed by the amount of people that wanted to join the event.

Med endast 5% kvinnliga utvecklare i Sverige är det allt fler företag som förstår vikten av att främja en jämställd IT-bransch. SEB, Tarsier Studios och Neo4j är tre företag som tar nästa steg och blir huvudsponsorer för Pink Programming – Sveriges största ideella nätverk för kvinnliga utvecklare.
