After an amazing camp summer, we couldn’t possibly end the year without another camp. The 5-8th of December, we are organizing Christmas Coding Camp in a cozy house in Swedish Klippan, for both experienced coders and beginners!
Sara Thiringer is the camp manager at Christmas Coding Camp, and has previously also organized the Data Science & Machine Learning camp at Kivik earlier this year. Sara discovered programming about a year ago, and after being a participant at PinkAndroid Camp in Järvsö in the beginning of 2019, she started volunteering at Pink Programming.
– I actually thought programming wasn’t at all for me, that it was too hard. I’m in social science originally with a major in political science, and always thought I wasn’t tech savy enough. I used to think that, if I wasn’t good at something immediately, then it wasn’t my thing. Damn, I was wrong! When I found Pink I got such a welcoming and helpful space where I right away understood that programming is pretty hard in the beginning, but that doesn’t mean that you should give up. Now I’m extremely proud when I can teach someone else about variables, data types, loops and other code things.
Christmas Coding Camp is a camp for both experienced coders and beginners. Vanja Tufvesson, Alexandra Antgren, Matilda Andersson och Tone Pedersen are the code mentors and workshop leaders. There will be workshops in robot programming in Kotlin of Tengai Unbiased’s interview robot, Christmas inspired programming of electronic components in Arduino, and essentials in Git.
And as always, in true Pink spirit, there will more than just coding – there will also be Christmas baking, good vegetarian food, yoga, and Christmas movie nights. And there is a sauna! What more can you ask to truly get into the real Christmas spirit?
